To everyone’s surprise, Saima Akram Chaudhary’s brand-new program Kaala Doriya doesn’t follow to this pattern and isn’t a Ramazan show. On Friday, the first episode was released, with Osman Khalid Butt as Asfand, Sana Javed as Mahnoor, and some well-known actors from previous shows.
However, Kaala Doriya has received mixed online reviews because of its similarity to previous Ramazan plays. People initially think it is too similar to Chaudhry’s earlier work.
In the first episode, Butt was a musician who was caught sneaking home by his brother, a model named Shahzad Noor, in the early morning hour.
The scene cuts to Butt’s mother, Zainab Qayyum, who runs over to help him with a water issue before his angry father, Farhan Ally Agha, reacts angrily. Butt meets his young niece and nephew on the way and begins playing the guitar for them, which enrages his father.
The next-door neighbors, Javed, Nadia Afgan, and Sohail Sameer, who play the show’s version of Noor’s wife’s family, are shown in the second scene. In the show, Sameer is Agha’s brother.
The drama begins with two families and the rivalry between Sameer and Agha, who are played by Samina Ahmed and Khalid Anam, that forced them apart and split their parents. Even though the brothers do not get along, Agha’s son is married to Sameer’s oldest daughter.
She also has a close relationship with her brother-in-law Butt, providing a new perspective on that relationship. Comedy shows typically focus entirely on the main characters and contentious families whose hatred turns into love.
