Prior to accepting the MacTaggart on the final day of the Edinburgh TV Festival, Ayling-Ellis, who is still the only deaf actor to be cast as a regular in a soap “, EastEnders, shared the news with Deadline.
The comedy-drama, which has not yet been given a name, is based on Ayling-Ellis’ experiences with the deaf dating scene. She will also have a major role in the production while supervising a disability writers’ room.
