In a joyful ceremony held at Antilia, the Ambanis’ Mumbai home, Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, got engaged to Radhika Merchant, the daughter of Encore Healthcare CEO Viren Merchant.
The joyful couple can be seen sitting hand-in-hand in a 73-second video posted by news agency ANI before family members, including Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani, danced to the Bollywood classic “wah wah Ramji” to applause from the crowd, which included family, friends, and a variety of movie stars.
Earlier, for the mehendi ceremony, Radhika Merchant wore a fuschia-pink Khosla lehenga; today, she wore a lehenga with gold embellishments. A navy blue kurta and pajama set was worn by Anant Ambani.
The Mumbai engagement included activities like “chunari vidhi,” which was held at the family temple, and “gol dhana,” a pre-wedding ceremony in which jaggery and coriander seeds are exchanged.
After exchanging rings, the couple asked for the group’s blessing.
Isha, a sister of Anant Ambani, went to the Merchant family home to invite Radhika and her family to the engagement celebration before the festivities officially started.
The couple’s “roka” ceremony took place at the Shrinathji Temple in Nathdwara, Rajasthan, last month. The two have known each other for several years.
Anant Ambani is the head of his family’s new energy company and attended Brown University in the United States. New York University graduate Radhika Merchant is currently a director on the board of Encore Healthcare. She also has formal training in classical dance.

Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son, Anant Ambani, said yesterday that he had proposed to Radhika Merchant.
The Ambani family put on a dance performance yesterday to commemorate Anant Ambani’s engagement to Radhika Merchant, the child of industrialist Viren Merchant.
In a customary ceremony held on Thursday at Antilia, the Ambani family’s renowned Mumbai residence, Anant, the youngest son of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, was engaged to Ms. Merchant.
With their daughter Isha Ambani and her husband Anand Piramal on either side of them, as well as their older son Akash Ambani and his wife Shloka Mehta, Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani performed the dance.
They danced to “Wah Wah Ramji,” a song from the movie “Hum Apke Hain Kaun” that had been changed to incorporate the names of the newlyweds.
The Ambani and Merchant families originally announced the couple’s anticipated marriage in 2019. Anant Ambani wore blue attire, while Ms. Merchant chose a golden lehenga for the event.
According to a statement from the Ambanis, “Age-old customs like the Gol Dhana and Chunari Vidhi – performed for generations among Gujarati Hindu families – were executed with tremendous fervour in the family temple.”
