Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance minister, was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi’s private ward.
Around noon, she was brought to AIIMS. In honor of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 98th birthday, the Union Minister presented floral tributes to the former prime minister yesterday at Sadaiv Atal in Delhi, according to the news agency PTI.
Sitharaman has reportedly been brought to AIIMS for a yearly checkup, according to reports. They added that she will probably depart after lunch.
The finance minister stated that India is known as the pharmacy of the world while presiding over a convocation ceremony at a university in Tamil Nadu on December 24. According to Sitharaman, India meets 25% of the UK’s need for all pharmaceuticals, 40% of the US demand for generic drugs, and 50% of Africa’s desire for generic drugs.
She had mentioned India’s pharmaceutical prowess during the 35th annual convocation of The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, saying that the nation manufactures roughly 60% of the world’s vaccines and 70% of the vaccines used by the World Health Organization for key immunization programs.
According to reports, the 63-year-old has been checked into a hospital’s private wing.
Today at noon, she was taken directly to the hospital. According to sources, the finance minister would probably leave after noon.
Who is Nirmala Sitharaman?
To Savitri and Narayanan Sitharaman, Nirmala Sitharaman was born in Madurai on August 18, 1959.
Sitharaman’s mother’s family originated in Thiruvenkadu, as well as the Tamil Nadu cities of Thanjavur and Salem, and her father was born in Musiri, Tiruchirappalli. Her father worked for Indian Railways, and Nirmala Sitharaman was raised in a Tamil Iyengar Brahmin family.
Nirmala Sitharaman graduated from Madras and Tiruchirappalli schools. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Tiruchirapalli’s Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College.
She relocated to Delhi in 1984 to finish her master’s degree in arts and M.Phil. in economics at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
While attending JNU, Nirmala Sitharaman met her future spouse Parakala Prabhakar. The pair wed in 1986 despite holding opposing political philosophies, and they have a daughter named Parakala Vangmayi. Sitharaman leaned toward the BJP, while Parakala Prabhakar was of the Congress ideology.

India’s first full-time female finance minister, Sitharaman took up her position as minister of corporate affairs and finance on May 31, 2019. Sitharaman delivered her first budget to the parliament on July 5. She gave the Union Budget 2020–21 presentation on February 1, 2020.
