Brendan Fraser Claims that he won’t attend any awards

Brendan Fraser won’t attend the 2023 Golden Globes, despite the strong likelihood that he’ll be nominated for his starring performance in the Oscar front-runner The Whale.

In the most current psychological drama, the 53-year-old actor made his Hollywood comeback as an obese, reclusive English teacher who tries to get back in touch with his daughter.

Fraser, however, stated in a GQ interview that was released on November 16 that he “will not participate” even if he is nominated for a 2023 Golden Globe.
The actor explained why he had less respect for the Golden Globes’ host organisation: “It’s because I have more history with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association than I do respect for it.”

My mother did not raise a hypocrite, either. There are many things you may call me, but not that.

A few years ago, Fraser shared shocking charges against former HFPA president and member Philip Berk in an interview with GQ where he talked about his sudden and abrupt exit from the public eye.

Berk allegedly assaulted and groped Fraser at a luncheon in 2003, as Fraser claimed. Berk called Fraser’s account “a blatant fiction.”
Fraser said he is entirely committed to pushing for the film to win an Oscar even if he has no plans to attend the awards ceremony in January.

I have a duty to myself. I owe the movie makers this. I am aware of my obligation to the fans who paid to see me, stood in line in the heat, and did all of that. My kids expect it of me. It’s my chance now.
