In the 1960s, Lucy Simon began her musical career by performing with Carly in Provincetown and Greenwich Village, Massachusetts.

Based on Eugene Field’s children’s 1889 children’s poem, the duo recorded Wynken, Blynken & Nod in 1964 under the name Simon Sisters.

The former nursing school graduate began making albums as a solo artist in the middle of the 1970s. Together with her husband David Levine, Simon co-produced two Grammy Award-winning children’s albums, In Harmony:

A Sesame Street Record from 1981 and Harmony 2 from 1983.

The Secret Garden, a well-known Broadway musical, was written by Lucy in 1991, and it received a Tony Award nomination for best original score. Years later, she composed the music for the Broadway production of Doctor Zhivago, the epic novel by Boris Pasternak.

Joanna Simon, 84, became well-known in the opera world thanks to an almost 25-year performance and concert career.
