Deion Sanders Coach, who played in the Hall of Fame and went on to become “Coach Prime,” has been named the 28th full-time head football coach at the University of Colorado, according to athletic director Rick George’s announcement on Saturday evening. Detail of Deion Sanders Coach is given below:
Deion Sanders Coach is selected as the Colorado Buffaloes’ new head coach.
In three seasons at Jackson State University (Jackson, Miss.), Sanders, 55, helped the Tigers compile a 27-5 record and win back-to-back Southwestern Athletic Conference championships while competing in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
This record includes a 12-0 record this season. Sanders comes to Colorado from Jackson State University. On Saturday, Southern was defeated by Jackson State in the SWAC championship game, 43-24.
The next head football coach at Colorado got interested from a number of very qualified and impressive candidates, but none of them, according to George, possessed Deion Sanders’ background, expertise, and capacity for relating to student-athletes.
“Coach Prime will not only energize our fan base, but I am convinced that he can restore national prominence to our program while coaching a team of great caliber and high character,” said the coach.
Sanders excelled both on and off the field while attending Jackson State.
He was a fervent supporter of more recognition and parity for all historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Sanders advocated for opportunities to showcase the skill and culture of HBCUs, drawing attention to them on a national scale.
Sanders hosted a Pro Day in March 2022 with athletes from four other Mississippi institutions to give them a stage in front of 22 NFL teams and the Canadian Football League. The first HBCU to have its spring football game broadcast live on ESPNU nationally was Jackson State in April 2022.

The Buffaloes’ first game under Sanders as head coach will take place against TCU on September 2nd. TCU is presently third in the College Football Playoff standings. His first home games will take place against longtime rival Nebraska on September 9 and will be followed the following Saturday by Colorado State, another local rival.
The 100th season of CU’s famous Folsom Field begins with those two rivals.
