Michigan vs Purdue: The chance exists for Michigan to cement its leadership in the Big Ten.
Michigan vs Purdue: Game Thread and Score
Before the season began, Michigan had already accomplished two of its four objectives by defeating Michigan State and Ohio State. The Big Ten title is the next objective that can be completed.
Despite not having the majority of the possession time, Michigan converted on its scoring opportunities. As a result, Purdue had to settle for five field goals. That made the game’s difference. If Purdue scores even two more touchdowns, the game is completely different.
This marks the first time in program history that Michigan has won 13 games in a season. Their focus will swiftly turn to the College Football Playoff opponents they will face.
Game Thread: Michigan vs Purdue
This season, Team 143 of the Michigan Wolverines is out to change history. The Maize and Blue are attempting to win back-to-back Big Ten Championships for the first time since the 2003–04 seasons after curb-stomping Ohio State at Ohio Stadium for the first time since 2000.
The Purdue Boilermakers present a solid opponent for the Wolverines despite how badly the Big Ten West has been treated this year. Purdue, known as the “Spoilermakers” due to their well-known history of defeating highly regarded teams, has been on a roll in this area.
The Boilermakers have the best such streak in America after winning three straight games against top-three opponents.
The Michigan defense will also need to focus solely on Aidan O’Connell and Charle Jones, who are perhaps the greatest receivers in the Big Ten, in order to slow down the passing game. This is not your typical Big Ten West offensive, so Purdue’s game plan will probably rely largely on these two old friends.
We received the unfortunate news that Blake Corum will have season-ending knee surgery before tonight’s game. The fact that Donovan Edwards bulldozed Ohio State’s rush defense for two touchdowns and 216 yards shows that Michigan can still run the ball without Corum.
The fact that Corum evolved into the Michigan Wolverines’ heart, soul, and face, however, cannot be contested. Following the humiliation of the Buckeyes last week, Michigan will now try to increase its offensive output.
